ICEF16 is an investigational cell therapy developed for the treatment of passive fecal incontinence, a condition characterized by involuntary stool loss due to dysfunction of the internal anal sphincter (a smooth muscle). Unlike other therapies targeting skeletal muscle sphincters, ICEF16 uses autologous precursor cells isolated from skeletal muscle and differentiates them into smooth muscle cells to repair or replace the damaged internal anal sphincter. This approach aims to restore continence in patients who do not respond adequately to behavioral interventions, pharmaceuticals, or surgical options. The technology has demonstrated proof-of-concept in both *in vitro* and *in vivo* studies and is currently at the preclinical development stage[1][2][4][7].
