iCELL-aGVHD is a cell therapy product consisting of cGMP-grade human amniotic epithelial stem cells (hAESCs) derived from the human placental amniotic membrane. Developed by iCELL Biotechnology in collaboration with Zhejiang University, it is intended for the prevention and treatment of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. hAESCs possess unique immunomodulatory properties, exerting inhibitory effects on various immune cells involved in aGVHD pathogenesis, including T cells, antigen-presenting cells, natural killer cells, macrophages, neutrophils, and B cells. The therapy is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials to assess safety and efficacy across multiple dose levels.
