Overview

ICG-Cisplatin nanoprobes are a self-assembled, carrier-free nanoparticle formulation developed by West China Hospital for the treatment and intraoperative visualization of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This theranostic agent combines the near-infrared-II (NIR-II) fluorescence imaging properties of indocyanine green (ICG) with the cytotoxic chemotherapeutic effects of cisplatin. Administered via superselective transarterial injection (often mixed with lipiodol), the nanoprobes are designed to accumulate in tumor tissues, allowing for real-time, high-resolution visualization of tumor margins and liver segments during laparoscopic anatomic hepatectomy while simultaneously delivering localized chemotherapy to the lesion. The self-assembled nature of these nanoprobes allows for the integration of both diagnostic and therapeutic functions in a single platform.
