Overview

ICG-PSMA is a targeted fluorescent imaging agent developed for the intraoperative visualization of prostate cancer. It consists of the near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) dye indocyanine green (ICG) conjugated to a small-molecule ligand that specifically targets prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a protein highly expressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells. By binding to PSMA, the agent allows surgeons to identify tumor margins, lymph node metastases, and extracapsular extension in real-time using fluorescence-guided surgery systems. This approach is intended to improve the accuracy of radical prostatectomy, potentially leading to better oncological outcomes and improved preservation of urinary and sexual function.
