ICH-1

ICH-1 (also known as PXZY) is an eight-herb traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula developed by researchers at the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine for the treatment of acute intracerebral hemorrhage (AICH). The formula is specifically designed around the therapeutic principle of "blood-activating and stasis-removing" (RBS), containing two potent animal-derived herbs: Hirudo (leech) and Tabanus (gadfly), alongside six other botanical ingredients that promote blood circulation. The primary clinical objective of ICH-1 is to facilitate the resorption of intracranial hematomas and improve long-term neurological outcomes without increasing the risk of secondary hematoma expansion. It has been evaluated in the multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled CRRICH trial, which assessed its safety and efficacy within a 6-hour to 72-hour window following the onset of a stroke.
