Overview

ICH-2 is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine formula developed by the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of acute intracerebral hemorrhage (AICH). It consists of six herbs and is specifically formulated without "blood-activating and stasis-dispersing" (RBS) herbs such as Hirudo (leech) and Tabanus (gadfly), which are present in related formulas like ICH-1. ICH-2 serves as a non-blood-activating control in clinical trials, such as the CRRICH (Clinical Re-evaluation of Removing blood stasis therapy in treating acute intracerebral Hemorrhage) series, to evaluate the safety and efficacy of different herbal approaches in the early stages of cerebral hemorrhage. The formula aims to provide therapeutic benefits while avoiding the potential risk of enlarging brain hematomas associated with potent blood-stasis-removing agents.
