Drug intelligence / Profile preview
iCM020 is a second-generation therapeutic candidate developed by **iCoat Medical**, specifically designed to mitigate **ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI)** in patients undergoing **open-heart surgery**. The drug is built upon iCoat Medical's proprietary technology platform, which focuses on surface-binding complement inhibitors. These molecules are engineered to bind to the endothelial lining of blood vessels and organ surfaces, providing localized regulation of the complement system. By inhibiting the complement-mediated inflammatory cascade that occurs when blood flow is restored to ischemic tissues, iCM020 aims to prevent tissue damage and improve post-operative recovery. As a systemic application of the iCoat platform, it represents an evolution of the company's first-generation ex vivo treatment (iCM012) and is currently in **preclinical** development.
