Drug intelligence / Profile preview
iCM023 is a third-generation pharmaceutical candidate developed by iCoat Medical, designed to mitigate ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). The drug is built upon a proprietary technology platform that utilizes surface-active molecules to create a protective coating on the endothelium or organ surfaces. This coating is intended to prevent the activation of the complement system and the subsequent inflammatory cascade that occurs when blood flow is restored to tissues after a period of ischemia. While the company's lead candidate (iCM012) is focused on kidney transplantation, iCM023 is being developed for use in open heart surgery to reduce systemic inflammation and organ damage. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
