Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ICO-33 is a highly specific monoclonal antibody targeting the GLUT-1 (glucose transporter 1) protein, developed by Icosagen Cell Factory. By binding to the limited extracellular region of GLUT-1, ICO-33 inhibits glucose uptake in cancer cells, which are often dependent on upregulated glucose metabolism for growth. This inhibition forces cancer cells to rely on oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), making them significantly more susceptible to OXPHOS inhibitors. Preclinical studies in colorectal and pancreatic cancer models have demonstrated that the combination of ICO-33 and OXPHOS inhibitors results in synergistic tumor growth inhibition and is well-tolerated.
