Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Icolyte-M is a sterile, non-pyrogenic intravenous maintenance solution developed by Ives Drugs India. As a generic formulation of the standard Isolyte M solution, it is designed to provide water, calories, and essential electrolytes to patients who are unable to maintain adequate oral intake. The formulation typically contains 5% dextrose along with a balanced profile of electrolytes, including sodium, potassium, magnesium, chloride, acetate, and phosphate. The dextrose component serves as a source of metabolic energy and helps minimize liver glycogen depletion, while the electrolytes assist in maintaining osmotic pressure, acid-base balance, and replenishing ion deficits. It is primarily indicated for maintenance fluid therapy to prevent dehydration and electrolyte disturbances in clinical settings.
