Overview

iCP-NI is a synthetically manufactured, cell-penetrating peptide drug developed by fusing an advanced macromolecule transduction domain of a hydrophobic cell-permeable peptide with a nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB)-derived nuclear localization sequence. The drug is designed to inhibit the interaction between inflammation-associated transcription factors (such as NF-κB, STAT, AP-1, and NFAT) and importin alpha5, thereby blocking the nuclear transport of these transcription factors. This mechanism prevents inflammatory cytokine transcription and aims to suppress cytokine storms associated with infectious and inflammatory diseases—including COVID-19. iCP-NI has been formulated for both injectable and inhaled administration routes to increase patient accessibility[1][2][3][4].
