ICT-111 is an autologous dendritic cell-based vaccine designed to target cancer stem cells (CSCs) in glioblastoma multiforme and other solid tumors. Developed by ImmunoCellular Therapeutics, the therapy involves harvesting a patient's own dendritic cells and loading them with three specific antigens—CD133, CD44, and ABCG2—which are highly expressed on the surface of CSCs. These stem cells are believed to be responsible for tumor resistance to standard therapies and subsequent recurrence. By training the patient's T cells to recognize and eliminate these specific targets, ICT-111 aims to eradicate the root cause of tumor growth and improve clinical outcomes. The program was part of a pipeline of dendritic cell immunotherapies that included ICT-107 and ICT-121, but development was halted following the developer's financial restructuring and cessation of clinical operations.
