Overview

ICT-121 DC vaccine is an investigational, patient-specific, cell-based immunotherapy designed to treat recurrent glioblastoma. The therapy uses autologous dendritic cells (DCs) derived from the patient's own monocytes. These cells are cultured and pulsed with purified peptides from the CD133 antigen—a protein overexpressed on many cancer stem cells and associated with resistance to chemotherapy and poor prognosis in glioblastoma. After preparation, the mature dendritic cells are administered intradermally back into the patient. The goal is to stimulate a cytotoxic T-cell immune response specifically targeting CD133-positive tumor cells, thereby promoting tumor cell lysis and potentially improving survival outcomes for patients with recurrent glioblastoma[2][4][6].
