Overview

ICT-GC is an investigational autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target guanylyl cyclase C (GUCY2C). Developed by Dr. Weijia Fang at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University in collaboration with Innovative Cellular Therapeutics (ICT), this biologic therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T cells to express a CAR that recognizes GUCY2C-expressing malignant cells. GUCY2C is a membrane-bound receptor protein typically restricted to the apical surfaces of intestinal epithelium but is universally overexpressed in metastatic colorectal cancer and ectopically expressed in other gastrointestinal malignancies, including gastric, esophageal, and pancreatic cancers. By targeting this receptor, ICT-GC aims to provide a precise treatment for advanced gastrointestinal tumors while potentially minimizing off-target effects on normal intestinal tissue due to the anatomical compartmentalization of GUCY2C. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial (NCT04652219).
