Overview

ICT03-Es5 is a bioreductive anticancer prodrug developed by Incanthera, originally designed by Onco-NX (a spin-out from the University of Salford). The compound is engineered to be selectively activated by the enzyme NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1), also known as DT-diaphorase, which is frequently overexpressed in various solid tumors. This mechanism allows for the targeted release of cytotoxic agents within the tumor microenvironment, potentially reducing systemic side effects compared to conventional chemotherapy. While Incanthera secured patents for the program in 2016 and conducted preclinical studies, the company's recent public focus has shifted toward its 'Skin + CELL' dermatology and skincare range, and the drug is no longer prominently featured in their active public pipeline.
