Overview

ICX-SKN is a living, tissue-engineered dermal substitute designed for the treatment of severe burns and acute wounds. Developed using a proprietary process, it consists of human dermal fibroblasts embedded in a fibrin matrix. Over a 49-day culture period, these cells synthesize a mature, human collagen-based extracellular matrix, creating a durable architecture that mimics natural dermis. The product is intended to integrate into the wound bed, promote vascularization, and support re-epithelialization, thereby serving as a replacement for autologous skin grafts and reducing the need for donor site harvesting. Clinical development reached Phase I trials, where it demonstrated safety and integration in surgical wounds.
