Id1 shRNA is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) construct designed to silence the expression of the Inhibitor of DNA Binding 1 (ID1) protein through RNA interference (RNAi). ID1 is a helix-loop-helix transcription factor often overexpressed in various malignancies, including pancreatic adenocarcinoma, glioblastoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma, where it promotes tumor proliferation, invasion, and chemoresistance. In research settings, Id1 shRNA is typically delivered via lentiviral vectors to create stable knockdown cell lines for studying the Src-dependent signaling axis and its role in tumorigenesis. While it has shown efficacy in reducing tumor burden and restoring gemcitabine sensitivity in preclinical mouse models, it is primarily utilized as a research reagent rather than a clinical-stage therapeutic.
