IDAA-338

IDAA-338 is a first-in-class dual adenosine A2A and A1 receptor antagonist being developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD). Unlike selective A2A antagonists such as istradefylline, IDAA-338 targets both A2A and A1 receptors to address both motor symptoms (such as parkinsonian disability and levodopa-induced dyskinesia) and non-motor symptoms (specifically cognitive dysfunction). In preclinical studies using MPTP-lesioned macaque models, IDAA-338 demonstrated efficacy as both a monotherapy and in combination with low-dose L-DOPA, showing significant improvement in 'good' on-time and cognitive performance in simple visual discrimination reversal learning (SDR) tasks.
