Overview

IDM-2 is an autologous cell-based immunotherapy consisting of Monocyte-derived Activated Killer (MAK) cells. The therapy is produced by harvesting monocytes from a patient's peripheral blood via leukapheresis, which are then differentiated into macrophages and activated ex vivo using recombinant interferon-gamma. These activated macrophages are designed to recognize and destroy tumor cells through direct cytotoxicity and phagocytosis. IDM-2 was developed for the treatment of superficial bladder cancer, administered via intravesical instillation following transurethral resection of the tumor to prevent recurrence. The program was originally developed by IDM Pharma (formerly Immuno-Designed Molecules).
