Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IDOV-AntiAngio is a discontinued gene therapy candidate developed by the Swedish biotechnology company Idogen AB. The program was designed for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and other ocular diseases characterized by pathological angiogenesis. The therapy utilized a lentiviral vector platform to deliver genetic material encoding anti-angiogenic proteins directly to ocular tissues. The primary goal was to achieve sustained, long-term expression of these therapeutic proteins within the eye, thereby inhibiting the signaling of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and reducing the need for frequent intravitreal injections, which are the current standard of care. Although the project demonstrated the versatility of Idogen's viral vector technology beyond its core focus on tolerogenic cell therapies, the program was deprioritized and eventually discontinued as the company faced financial restructuring and liquidation in 2023.
