Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IDOV-Safe is an intravenously deliverable oncolytic vaccinia virus developed as a novel cancer therapy. It is part of the ViroMissile platform and represents the first "safety switch" oncolytic virus designed to stop viral replication in healthy cells, thereby enhancing safety. The drug is engineered for improved survival in blood and resistance to clearance by natural killer (NK) and T-cells, which allows it to persist longer in circulation and target tumors more effectively. Preclinical data suggest that it is up to 10 times more effective against microsatellite stable colorectal cancer (MSS CRC) compared to previous approaches. Its mechanism includes direct tumor cell lysis via viral infection, enhancement of anti-tumor immunity, and inhibition of tumor angiogenesis[1][2][4][5][7].
