Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IDT-003 is a topical small molecule cream developed by Nanjing Yuxi Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of melasma. Utilizing the company's proprietary Ion-pair Drug Technology (IDT), the formulation contains a stabilized version of cysteamine, a potent depigmenting agent. IDT-003 functions primarily by inhibiting tyrosinase and peroxidase, enzymes essential for melanin synthesis. It also acts by scavenging dopaquinone, chelating copper and iron ions, and increasing intracellular glutathione levels to favor the production of pheomelanin over eumelanin. The IDT-003 formulation is specifically engineered to address the stability issues and the characteristic unpleasant sulfurous odor associated with traditional cysteamine products, potentially improving patient compliance and therapeutic outcomes. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
