Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IELMAG3 is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical kit containing the chelating agent mertiatide (mercaptoacetyltriglycine, MAG3) that is radiolabelled with technetium-99m to produce 99mTc-mertiatide for renal imaging and function studies.[3][4][9] After intravenous administration of the labelled product, 99mTc-mertiatide is rapidly distributed in the extracellular fluid and almost entirely cleared by tubular secretion in the kidneys, enabling dynamic renography to assess renal perfusion, tubular function, drainage, and urinary tract obstruction.[3][4][9] IELMAG3 is supplied as a two-vial kit (mertiatide plus excipients and a stannous-containing vial for reduction) that is reconstituted with sodium pertechnetate (99mTc) solution immediately before use and is indicated for diagnostic use only.[3][4][9]
