IFB-048 is an orally available small molecule developed by InFlectis BioScience as part of a new class of compounds known as integrated stress response (ISR) modulators. It is specifically designed to promote remyelination and protect oligodendrocytes and neurons in the context of multiple sclerosis (MS) and potentially other neurological or autoimmune conditions. IFB-048 is a derivative of guanabenz, an antihypertensive drug known to activate the ISR pathway, but has been engineered to maximize ISR activation while minimizing effects on blood pressure. The mechanism involves inhibition of Protein phosphatase 1 regulatory subunit 15A (PPP1R15A), thereby prolonging the protective effects of the ISR in cells under inflammatory stress. Preclinical studies are ongoing to evaluate its efficacy in promoting myelin repair and neuroprotection in MS models[1][2][3][6][9].
