Overview

IFBe04 is a preclinical development program by Interface Biosciences centered on the optimization of sactipeptides for gut-restricted oral therapeutic applications. Sactipeptides (sulfur-to-alpha-carbon thioether cross-linked peptides) are a class of ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptides (RiPPs) that often possess unique structural stability and biological activities. The IFBe04 project specifically targets the improvement of peptide stability—addressing both chemical and formulation challenges—to ensure that these sactipeptide therapeutics can survive the harsh environment of the gastrointestinal tract and remain localized to the gut for therapeutic effect. This program supports the broader goal of developing microbiome-derived oral therapies for inflammatory and immune-related conditions.
