Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Iforu (also known as I for U) is an oral nutritional supplement and hematinic developed by Centaur Pharmaceuticals. It is formulated as a combination of iron (in forms such as ferric pyrophosphate, ferric ammonium citrate, or ferrous ascorbate) and the amino acid glycine. Iforu is approved for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency, iron deficiency anemia, and associated nutritional deficiencies, particularly in pediatric populations and during pregnancy. The combination of iron with glycine forms a chelated structure that enhances iron absorption and bioavailability while minimizing common gastrointestinal side effects such as constipation and stomach upset.
