The combination of ifosfamide and irinotecan (II) is a chemotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of relapsed or refractory small cell lung cancer (SCLC). These findings support further testing of the II regimen versus topotecan in properly randomized clinical trials. Another study examined a triple combination of cisplatin, ifosfamide, and irinotecan with rhG-CSF support, which showed an even higher response rate of 94.4% in refractory or relapsed SCLC[2]. This suggests that ifosfamide and irinotecan can be effectively combined with other agents for enhanced efficacy, though with potentially increased toxicity.
