IG-001 is a next-generation, Cremophor-free, non-biologic nanoparticle formulation of paclitaxel. It is based on a micellar diblock copolymer technology designed to improve the delivery and tolerability of paclitaxel. Unlike conventional formulations that use solvents like Cremophor EL (which can cause hypersensitivity reactions), IG-001 uses a polymeric micelle system to encapsulate and deliver paclitaxel. This results in enhanced stability in protein-free fluids and allows for alternative routes of administration such as intraperitoneal or intravesical delivery. Preclinical studies have shown that IG-001 has increased maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and improved antitumor efficacy compared to standard intravenous Abraxane or solvent-based paclitaxel, especially in multidrug-resistant cancer models. Clinical trials have demonstrated positive responses across several cancer types including lung, breast, ovarian, pancreatic, and bladder cancers[3][5][7]. The drug has been evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and other solid tumors.
