Overview

IGC-1A is a proprietary small molecule drug candidate developed by IGC Pharma. Identified through advanced artificial intelligence modeling, it is recognized as a potential glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, with additional activity as a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) agonist and cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) inverse agonist. GLP-1 agonists are known for their roles in regulating blood sugar levels and promoting weight loss by increasing satiety and reducing appetite, making them effective in treating type 2 diabetes and obesity. The neuroprotective properties of GLP-1 signaling also suggest potential benefits for neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, particularly through the reduction of inflammation and oxidative stress. Preclinical development is ongoing, with toxicology and dosing studies planned to support an Investigational New Drug Application submission to the FDA[2][3][4][5][7][9].
