Overview

IGC-509 is an investigational immunotherapy being developed by IGC Pharma for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It functions as a T-cell modulator designed to stimulate the immune system to recognize and facilitate the clearance of amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques, a hallmark pathological feature of Alzheimer's. By modulating T-cell activity, the drug aims to reduce the accumulation of toxic protein aggregates and mitigate neuroinflammation in the brain. Preclinical studies in animal models have demonstrated that IGC-509 can significantly reduce Aβ plaque density and improve cognitive markers. As of early 2024, the candidate is in the preclinical and IND-enabling phase, positioning it as a potential disease-modifying therapy for neurodegenerative disorders.
