IGF2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to silence the expression of insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2). In preclinical research, it has been investigated for its potential to treat neuropathic pain by reducing IGF2 levels in the spinal cord, which has been shown to attenuate mechanical and cold allodynia in rat models. It has also been utilized as a research tool to study the role of IGF2 in depression-like behavior and tumor-induced bone resorption (osteoclastogenesis). The molecule functions by binding to and promoting the degradation of IGF2 mRNA through the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), thereby preventing the translation of the IGF2 protein and inhibiting its downstream signaling pathways.
