IGFBP2 peptide vaccine is an investigational cancer vaccine designed to stimulate an immune response against cells overexpressing insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2 (IGFBP2). IGFBP2 is a protein frequently overexpressed in various malignancies, including breast and ovarian cancers, where it is associated with tumor progression, metastasis, and poor prognosis. The vaccine typically consists of immunogenic peptide fragments derived from the IGFBP2 protein, often selected to specifically stimulate type I helper T (Th1) cells while avoiding the activation of immunosuppressive regulatory T cells (Tregs). By presenting these epitopes to the host immune system, the vaccine aims to elicit tumor-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) and helper T-cell responses, leading to the targeted destruction of IGFBP2-expressing cancer cells. Preclinical studies have evaluated these peptide vaccines in combination with adjuvants like GM-CSF to enhance immunogenicity and antitumor efficacy.
