IGFBP2 peptides refer to a class of peptide therapeutics and vaccine candidates derived from insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2 (IGFBP-2). These peptides are being developed for several distinct therapeutic applications. In oncology, researchers at the University of Washington have developed a multi-peptide cancer vaccine consisting of three MHC class II-restricted IGFBP-2 peptides (p8-22, p251-265, and p291-305) designed to stimulate Type I CD4+ T-helper (Th1) cell-mediated immune responses against IGFBP-2-overexpressing tumors, such as breast and ovarian cancers. In neurology, Northwestern University researchers developed JB2, an IGFBP2-mimetic peptide fragment that promotes synaptic plasticity and is being investigated for Phelan-McDermid syndrome and autism spectrum disorder. Additionally, Alizé Pharma has investigated IGFBP-2-derived peptides with bone anabolic properties for the treatment of osteoporosis and other bone diseases.
