Iglu

Iglu is an over-the-counter (OTC) topical treatment specifically formulated for the management of mouth ulcers (aphthous ulcers). Developed and marketed by the Diomed Group (through its subsidiary Dermal Laboratories), the product is typically available as a bioadhesive gel. Its primary active ingredients are lidocaine hydrochloride, a local anesthetic that provides rapid pain relief by blocking sodium channels, and aminoacridine hydrochloride, an antiseptic that helps prevent secondary bacterial infection of the ulcerated tissue. A key feature of the Iglu formulation is its water-resistant, bioadhesive property, which allows the gel to form a physical protective barrier over the ulcer.
