IGT-427 is a bispecific antibody developed for the treatment of retinal diseases, specifically diabetic macular edema (DME) and wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD). It simultaneously suppresses vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling and activates Tie2 signaling pathways. This dual mechanism is designed to improve the quality of the retinal vasculature and reduce vascular leakage, with engineered variants offering a longer vitreous half-life compared to current standard-of-care therapies. The drug was initially developed by Ingenia Therapeutics Inc., in collaboration with Mosaic Biosciences[1][2][4]. Preclinical data suggest that IGT-427 may offer superior efficacy and reduced frequency of administration compared to existing VEGF inhibitors or combination VEGF/Ang2 inhibitors[4][5][7].
