IHJ-301 is an induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived regenerative medicine product developed by iHeart Japan for the treatment of severe heart failure, including dilated cardiomyopathy and ischemic heart disease. The therapy consists of multi-layered cardiovascular cell sheets manufactured using a proprietary gelatin hydrogel microsphere technology originally developed at Kyoto University. IHJ-301 functions primarily through a paracrine mechanism, where the transplanted cells secrete a variety of cytokines and extracellular vesicles that promote tissue repair and improve cardiac function. Preclinical studies in porcine myocardial infarction models have demonstrated significant recovery of cardiac function, with levels reaching those of healthy subjects.
