Overview

iHSC009 is an "off-the-shelf" chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-engineered cell therapy derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Developed by Cell Inspire Biotechnology, the therapy utilizes iPSC-derived hematopoietic stem cells (iHSCs) that are genetically modified to target B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA), a protein highly expressed on the surface of multiple myeloma cells. To overcome common limitations in cell therapy such as poor persistence and limited expansion, iHSC009 is further engineered to secrete Interleukin-15 (IL-15). This cytokine acts in an autocrine and paracrine manner to enhance the proliferation, survival, and antitumor activity of the therapeutic cells within the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. iHSC009 is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of multiple myeloma.
