Overview

iHSC012 is a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-engineered cell therapy derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). Specifically, it consists of iPSC-derived hematopoietic stem cells (iHSCs) that have been modified to express a CAR targeting Trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2 (TROP2) and to secrete Interleukin-15 (IL-15). Developed by Cell Inspire Biotechnology, this therapy is designed to treat TROP2-positive solid tumors. The mechanism involves the CAR-iHSCs recognizing and binding to TROP2 on tumor cells, while the secreted IL-15 acts to enhance the expansion, persistence, and anti-tumor activity of the engineered cells within the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. It is currently in preclinical development.
