Overview

IHV01 is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate designed for the prevention of HIV-1 infection. Developed by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the vaccine consists of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein 120 (gp120). IHV01 is typically evaluated as a component of heterologous prime-boost immunization regimens, where it is co-administered with other vaccine modalities such as DNA vaccines (e.g., GEO-D02 or DNA CON-S env) and viral vector vaccines (e.g., MVA/HIV62B). These regimens are designed to elicit broad and durable immune responses, including neutralizing antibodies and cellular immunity, against the HIV-1 envelope. Clinical evaluation has been conducted through the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), including Phase 1 studies such as HVTN 132 and the withdrawn HVTN 125 study.
