IK-1259

IK-1259 is a preclinical-stage small molecule agonist of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AHR). Developed by Ikena Oncology, it was part of a program exploring the modulation of the AHR pathway, a ligand-activated transcription factor that plays a significant role in regulating immune cell differentiation and environmental sensing. While AHR antagonists are frequently investigated in immuno-oncology to overcome immunosuppression, AHR agonists like IK-1259 are typically explored for their potential to induce immune tolerance in autoimmune conditions or for specific oncogenic contexts. In November 2024, Ikena Oncology sold IK-1259 and another AHR agonist, IK-0714, to an undisclosed venture capital firm for $1.5 million, as the assets were no longer in active development by the company.
