Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ikarugamycin is an antibiotic produced by species of Streptomyces. It exhibits antibacterial, anti-protozoal, and anticancer activities. Ikarugamycin prevents the formation of the bacterial 70S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein translation. It also inhibits clathrin-mediated endocytosis and CCP-dependent phagocytosis, preventing the uptake of oxidized LDL in macrophages.
