Overview

Ikena Oncology's ERK5 inhibitor is a preclinical small molecule program designed to target the ERK5 kinase (also known as MAPK7) within the RAS signaling pathway. It was specifically developed to treat RAS-pathway driven tumors, including KRAS-mutant pancreatic cancer and lung adenocarcinoma. Preclinical studies demonstrated that the inhibitor possesses single-agent activity and exhibits synergistic anti-tumor effects when combined with MEK inhibition. Following Ikena Oncology's merger with Inmagene Biopharmaceuticals in July 2025 to form ImageneBio, the company shifted its strategic focus toward inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, effectively deprioritizing and discontinuing its oncology pipeline, including the ERK5 program.
