Overview
iKids-Growth is a nutritional supplement developed by GeneScience Pharmaceuticals (GenSci) designed to support height development in children with growth-related conditions. The product is part of GenSci's iKids pediatric health portfolio and is primarily formulated with gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). GABA is included for its purported ability to stimulate the endogenous secretion of growth hormone from the pituitary gland by acting as a neurotransmitter that modulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-somatotropic axis. iKids-Growth is currently being evaluated in clinical trials in China for various growth-related indications, including children with low preadolescent insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) levels and short stature homeobox-containing (SHOX) gene deficiency. In these studies, it is often investigated as a non-hormonal intervention, either as a standalone treatment or in comparison with recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) therapy.
