Overview

IL-13Rα2 peptide-pulsed dendritic cells are an investigational cell-based immunotherapy designed for cancer treatment, particularly malignant glioma and glioblastoma. This therapy involves isolating autologous dendritic cells from the patient and pulsing them ex vivo with synthetic peptides derived from the interleukin-13 receptor alpha 2 (IL-13Rα2), a tumor-associated antigen overexpressed in certain cancers such as glioblastoma. The pulsed dendritic cells are then administered back to the patient as a vaccine to stimulate an anti-tumor immune response by presenting the IL-13Rα2 peptides to T-cells, thereby inducing cytotoxic T lymphocyte activity against tumor cells expressing this antigen[1][3][4]. Clinical trials have demonstrated feasibility and safety in patients with recurrent malignant gliomas expressing HLA-A*0201 or HLA-A*2402 alleles[1][3].
