Overview

IL-13Rα2-targeted UCAR-T cell injection is an investigational universal chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (UCAR-T) therapy being developed by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University for the treatment of advanced gliomas, including relapsed or refractory high-grade glioma. Unlike traditional autologous CAR-T therapies, UCAR-T cells are derived from healthy donors and engineered to be off-the-shelf, typically involving gene editing to reduce the risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and immune rejection. This specific candidate targets Interleukin-13 receptor subunit alpha-2 (IL-13Rα2), a tumor-associated antigen frequently overexpressed in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) but with limited expression in normal brain tissue. The therapy is currently being evaluated in early-phase clinical trials in China to assess safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy.
