IL-15 stimulated NK cells are natural killer (NK) cells that have been activated or expanded ex vivo using interleukin-15 (IL-15), a cytokine critical for the development, survival, and activation of NK and CD8+ T-cells. Stimulation with IL-15 enhances the cytotoxic activity of these NK cells by upregulating activating receptors such as NKG2D and TIM-3, increasing their ability to target and kill tumor or infected cells[1][5]. These enhanced effector functions make them promising candidates for adoptive cell therapy in cancer immunotherapy settings. Clinical trials have evaluated the safety and efficacy of infusing ex vivo IL-15-stimulated NK cells in patients with high-risk leukemias following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation[10]. The approach aims to boost graft-versus-leukemia effects while minimizing relapse risk.
