Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An IL-17 blocking antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target and neutralize interleukin-17 (IL-17), a pro-inflammatory cytokine primarily produced by T-helper 17 (Th17) cells. By binding to IL-17 (such as IL-17A or IL-17F) or its receptor (IL-17R), these antibodies inhibit downstream signaling pathways that drive inflammation, tissue remodeling, and autoimmune pathology. IL-17 blocking antibodies are widely used or investigated for the treatment of various autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, including plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and potentially other diseases like primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and rheumatoid arthritis.
