IL-1R1 neutralizing antibody is a monoclonal antibody that binds to the Interleukin-1 receptor type 1 (IL-1R1), thereby blocking the signaling of both IL-1α and IL-1β. This inhibition prevents the activation of downstream inflammatory cascades and the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway. In preclinical research, such as the study of preeclampsia (PE) using the Reduced Uterine Perfusion Pressure (RUPP) rat model, IL-1R1 neutralization has been shown to reduce maternal hypertension, improve fetal and placental weights, and increase maternal immunotolerant regulatory T cells. While several clinical-stage candidates have targeted this receptor (e.g., AMG 108, MEDI-8968), the term is frequently used to describe research-grade reagents used in experimental models of inflammatory and hypertensive disorders.
