Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IL-2 immune complex (IL-2c or IL-2cx) is an immunotherapeutic platform consisting of interleukin-2 (IL-2) cytokine non-covalently complexed with or genetically fused to an anti-IL-2 monoclonal antibody. By sterically or conformationally blocking specific receptor-binding sites on IL-2, these complexes redirect the cytokine's activity toward specific immune cell subsets while extending its short in vivo half-life. Depending on the clone of the anti-IL-2 antibody used, the complex can be biased toward either CD25-expressing regulatory T cells (Tregs) to promote immunosuppression and transplant tolerance, or CD122-expressing CD8+ T cells and natural killer (NK) cells to enhance antitumor immunity.
