Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IL13Rα2-CAR T cell is an adoptive cell therapy platform consisting of autologous or allogeneic T lymphocytes genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting interleukin-13 receptor subunit alpha-2 (IL13Rα2). IL13Rα2 is a tumor-associated antigen overexpressed in various malignancies, particularly high-grade gliomas (such as glioblastoma multiforme), melanoma, and other solid tumors, while showing minimal expression in normal tissues. Upon administration, these CAR-T cells specifically bind to IL13Rα2 on tumor cells, leading to T-cell activation, cytokine release, and selective tumor cell lysis. Clinical development of various IL13Rα2-targeted CAR-T therapies is underway, exploring both locoregional (intracranial/intraventricular) and systemic (intravenous) routes of administration to treat recurrent malignant gliomas and advanced solid tumors.
